Almond Milk Recipe (yum!)

Homemade almond milk is healthy, inexpensive, easy to make and totally delicious! Whether you're dairy-free by choice or you just like to mix it up when it comes to milk options, homemade almond milk makes a tasty alternative to conventional dairy.

The recipe I like to use is from Wellness Mama, and it has only 3 ingredients, plus water:

1 cup raw almonds

4 cups filtered water

Vanilla bean or Vanilla extract

Dates, honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Soak almonds overnight (12 hours) in water with 1/2 tsp sea salt.
  2. Rinse almonds well. Blend with water in blender until smooth and creamy (usually takes 2-3 minutes).
  3. Strain mixture into a large bowl using a cheese cloth or clean kitchen towel.
  4. Pour strained mixture back into blender and mix with vanilla and/or sweetener of your choice.
  5. Pour into glass jar or pitcher and store in fridge for up to 1 week.

Give your almond milk a quick shake before you pour it as it tends to separate in the fridge.  It's so much more delicious than store bought versions, so enjoy!
