Chinese herbs have been used for thousands of years as preventative medicine and to treat many ailments. The emphasis in Chinese Medicine has always been on prevention. In China up until the last century, doctors were paid when their patients were healthy. If their patients got sick, doctors stopped getting paid. Therefore, in order for a doctor to feed his family, he had to keep his patients healthy. Sounds like a pretty ideal health care system to me!
Many Sola Skincare products contain Chinese herbs that have been infused in Sweet Almond Oil. Each of the herbs used have different properties:
Dang Gui (当归) improves blood circulation, stimulates new cell growth, and nourishes the skin. Contains an abundance of vitamins such as vitamins A, B12, and E, as well as over 23 mineral substances including Potassium and Magnesium.
Ru Xiang (乳香) improves micro-circulation, is a good skin tonic, and regenerates skin cells. Otherwise known as Frankincense.
Sheng Di Huang (生地黄) is known in Chinese medicine to clear heat and nourish yin, which means that it is good for treating inflammation and redness, as well as retaining moisture. Sheng Di Huang is also anti-bacterial and stimulates micro-circulation in the skin (especially when combined with Dang Gui).
Zhen Zhu Mu (珍珠母) regenerates skin cells, is astringent, tightens pores, treats acne, and the Chinese believe it beautifies the skin.
Zhi Mu (知母) is used in Chinese medicine to clear heat and nourish yin, which like Sheng Di Huang, is great for treating inflammation and redness, and retaining moisture. It is anti-bacterial and relieves dryness.
